Greatest Generation

The term "Greatest Generation" was coined by news-anchor Tom Brokaw to describe WW II era Americans; as well as, the numerous foreign and domestic challenges, they fought to overcome. Back in the days when "victory" was still considered a noble act, in the merry old land of US.

Fortunately, a walk down the pathway of American history reveals that the United States has begotten numerous 'Greatest Generations'. From the courageous actions taken by our founding fathers as they fought to establish the 'land of the free', to the rapid response given by our present generation, when our own nation was attacked by vile terrorists.

I marvel at the generation serving in our military today. They seem to keenly understand that America now has a most vicious enemy, that seeks to conquer and to destroy their homeland. Hence, they boldly and willingly commit to fight for freedom. Jointly united, they labor to achieve victory over all known enemies of the United States of America.

Yet, in truth, our praise must also be extended to all our "Greatest Generations." From the early settlers, to the victory in 1776, to the heroes of the American Civil War, to the bravery displayed in WW I, Korea, WW II, Vietnam, The Gulf Wars, to the heroes engaged in present day conflicts aound the globe. Mostly, to generations of American men and women who strived and sacrificed to accomplish "greater things" for generations yet to come.

Like most Americans, I, too, believe in a Creator, and One that created man in His image and in His likeness. Resting most assuredly in that fact, we can believe that as long as there are times and seasons, there shall be "greatness" found in every generation.
